Us

We are Dan and Laura Cater from Birmingham, AL. We both grew up in Hoover and were acquaintances in high school. We both attended Auburn University. After college, Dan stayed in Auburn teaching for 4 years. Laura graduated college and moved to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to teach and serve as a missionary. Upon returning from Ethiopia, we were reconnected through mutual friends and very quickly fell in love. We got married on June 10, 2012 and began the best adventure of our lives. We fought a long and difficult battle with infertility, and felt that God was leading us to adopt. In 2015 we began the adoption process, completed our homestudy, and began the matching process. Two weeks into matching, we got the surprise of a lifetime when we found out we were pregnant. We welcomed Thatch into our lives in September of 2016. We believe that God used our journey through infertility to call us to adoption and we are excited about what He has in store. We can't wait to meet the child that God has for us, they are so loved already. We have been surrounded by the most incredible friends and family throughout our lives and especially in these past few years. We are so thankful for everyone who has loved, supported, and encouraged us through it all.
